The 15th anniversary edition of the Montreal Chamber Music Festival ends on May 29th with what has now become an annual tradition: a six hour marathon devoted to the lushest chamber music of some of the greatest composers. This year the Festival celebrates the majesty and romance of Johannes Brahms. Celebrated artists performing in this marathon include: pianists David Jalbert, Francis Perron and Kevin Loucks, clarinetist James Campbell, violinist Rachel Barton Pine, violist Marcus Thompson, the Afiara String Quartet and French horn player Louis-Philippe Marsolais. The evening closes with the magnificent and rarely performed Liebeslieder-Walzer Book 1, Opus 52 in a performance by soprano Anne Saint-Denis, mezzo-soprano Mireille Lebel, tenor Jacques-Olivier Chartier, bass baritone Alexandre Sylvestre and pianists Francis Perron and David Jalbert.
